Motion of divine energy: A Christian Science Nursing learning event

The CSNA(UK) wishes to extend a warm invitation to all Christian Science Nurses and supporters of Christian Science Nursing in the UK and Europe to attend a free in-person only Christian Science Nursing learning event, to be held at Novotel Manchester Centre, 21 Dickinson Street, Manchester, M1 4LX on Monday 14th October, Tuesday 15th October and Wednesday 16th October.

Monday and Wednesday will be for Christian Science Nurses only, and Tuesday is open to those involved in all the various organisations supporting Christian Science Nursing in the UK and Europe and every member of all the Boards, committees, administration and management teams are included in this invitation. Christian Science Nurses are also invited to attend on Tuesday as well.

The same schedule will be repeated on Monday and Wednesday and each day will commence at 09:30 and finish by 16:30. Tuesday’s schedule will commence at 10:00 and finish by 15:00.

The metaphysical theme of the event is ‘Motion of divine energy’ accompanied by the following quote from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy:

Metaphysics resolves things into thoughts, and exchanges the objects of sense for the ideas of Soul. (SH 269:14)

For Christian Science Nurses, the object of the event builds on key elements of Christian Science Nursing practice, namely metaphysical foundation, ethics, communication and practical use of equipment. The primary focus will be the metaphysical foundation for, and the practical wisdom behind, movement and the use of mobility aids. The event will be workshop style, including independent study, group work and hypothetical exercises. Christian Science Nurses will have the opportunity to share and reflect on their own practice, listen to the experiences of others, and freely ask questions. Christian Science Nurses are also asked to bring their own devices with access to Concord, along with copies of the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

For supporters, the event will mirror methodologies used for Christian Science Nurses during training to explore how to resolve in thought some of the issues that come up for Christian Science Nursing organisations within the UK and Europe.

Holding close to the event theme, the day will focus on three key areas:

  1. Christian Science Nurse recruitment and retention
  2. Patient value of care received
  3. The public facing view of Christian Science Nursing

The schedule for both the Christian Science Nurses and supporters will also include key updates in Christian Science Nursing from Audrey Sentinella and Vanessa Campbell from The Mother Church. This event will also include an element of continuing education for journal-listed Christian Science Nurses.

Please submit your registrations before Saturday 14th September.
